One of the big questions for politicos in Colorado in the lead up to the 2020 campaign season is, who will break through the massive Democratic primary field?
People are saying that Mike Johnston is a leading candidate, but he only got 3rd in a race less than a year ago despite spending more than $7.5 million.
Johnston is most well known for being the “” of the teacher effectiveness law that was highly controversial among Democrats. The Colorado Education Association (CEA) teachers’ union spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on his policy positions during his last campaign. Sounds like a group that will do everything it can to ensure Johnston isn’t elected to a higher office.
This time around it seems that Johnston is keeping quiet about education issues. He didn’t even stand up for education reform in Colorado when Socialist Senator attacked .
Whether Johnston stands his ground on education issues or not remains to be seen. Regardless, we agree with and when they say there are no A-list Democratic candidates in this race so far.
